I needed a place to put my license plate so I've started on the tailgate. Just needs to be skinned and figure out a hinge/latch system.

 

I love reading your build thread. Keep it up and know that we are all anticipating your next addition so keep your head up and keep on building.

 

I've been working on a the tail gate but the more I work on it, the less I like it. It's really simple and a lot heavier than I thought it would be. My original plan was to paint it red and get a black "Jeep" logo printed out for it.





Do I finish it out and see how it looks or scrap it and build something out of round tube?

Stopped at home on my lunch and propped it up. I actually like it and think it will look good after its finished but man is it heavy...

I think I'll go today and see if I can find some hinges that I like. Also need a hole saw so I can run my cb antenna cable.

 

The only thing is you cant ride around with the gate down cause the plate but looks great.

 

I don't think they'd say anything. I've been driving it to work and around town with the license plate in the passenger seat. If we get a dusting of snow, everyone gets their Rzrs and ATVs out on the road and cops don't say anything. I live in pretty laid back little town.

 

Worked on the tailgate again tonight. Just needs a little more grinding and paint.








Folds down completely out of the way with the d ring out of the bumper.



With the d ring in the bumper it hits about 3/4 of the way down.
