And it helps get ya off the couch in warm weather for hiking trips. And if you can get your kids into it all the better.
My kids are too damn lazy and just want to be stuck to a screen.
I'm fortunate enough that my kids love to hike and go out doors. We got all kinds of camping trips coming this spring/summer so we are stoked. It can be tough getting my son out at times he loves his screens but he limit him and it was always like that so he is used to be told no.
My 15 year old is really bugging me to get the jeep done because he thinks it is going to be his, Im hoping I can get him more involved with the build, and that it will turn into more trips to the hills. And in turn get him into RC.
I think it is a great hobby for kids as it teaches nuts and bolts.
Picking up that long arm kit today actually!! Decided that I didn't want to wait until Thursday just because I'm unaware of my underway schedule and if things change the seller may not be willing to hold it any longer.
Super excited!!!
Also my rear hatch seal shipped today OMIX-ADA brand so I hope that is good quality and seems to be what everyone is selling such as Crown and Morris 4x4 along with a few others. I will be sure to pickup that 3M sealant when I go to put it on.

Yea I know right lol we have a mutual understanding with the jeep. It was never 100% approved but she knows its my hobby to pass the time and stress reliever so its okay. I just have to minimize the spending on it over time. Like many of us or I would have already had it done.
On another note co worker was pulling parts out of a wrecked 2000 F250 Lariat so I got the leather lariat seats from him to put in my F350. Mine are cloth and always hated them when it comes to spills and dirt. I'm actually planning to rip carpet out of it this summer and drop in vinyl floor. Simple things in life I just don't need all the bells and whistles.
Just out of curiosity when it comes to leather is there a way to stain leather seats with color to bring back any life? Or can you simply change the color altogether with some kind of interior leather paint or stain? I have no idea and though I might try it on my wife's Excursion limited seats if I could to bring some life back. Rather then buy all new leather for them when they are not ripped.
We will see I have a welder and I'm practicing but I don't want to mess the brand new floors up.
The rest is just chasing water leaks, lift and tires, CB. After that I should be ready for the trails.
Looks like maybe March-April I'll be out on the first shake down.
I welded professionally for a couple years and as a hobby now, and I can say that it is hard for newbies to weld sheet metal, and harder to make it air tight. Theres no shame in having someone else do it, but there is also no better way to learn than hands on. That being said, my advise is to have someone with experience do it, and learn on your own with smaller projects.
With my YJ I just kinda added stuff to it as I needed it, but I still don't have a cb or full size spare. I'm with you on trying to get everything installed to be trail ready before going out with everyone this time around.
I'm not even going to state when I think my Cherokee will be ready for the trail. I'm already spending way more time on it than I thought. I'm going to hope to stay within your time schedule, lol.

Dont worry Kevin you got plenty of time. Now that I got the new lift kit I still need to buy rear leafs and brake lines and relocation brackets for the rear. I'm sure many other things including tires lol but your good and have a couple months. As long as I make it out by summer I'll be happy! Summers will be packed full of camping trips too though.
Yea there is a part of me that just wants the welding project done right so I don't burn into new floor pans plus I'm still in the middle of restoring jeep to normal conditions and trails. That being said its important for me to know things are done correctly and not half ***! No its no a show truck but I wouldn't mind driving it more on roads too at times.
