Center console will come out this weekend so I can ditch that part of carpet and bedliner under that too.

It's looking pretty good! Sorry about your leak, I know how you feel. I just had mine outside for a couple days and had a fish bowl in my passenger side floor boards too. I've got an interior color change ahead of me so I'll be searching for my leak when the carpet is out.

Kevin,

Thanks buddy. Yea I know for sure its coming in from fire wall area in corner so my guess windshield area running down pillars into floor. I tarped the front last night put jeep facing my garage and still little water got in but nearly as bad when its facing the other direction.

Irritating because I'm trying to get my bedliner to dry properly. I might have to redo areas once it warms and dry (ha ha unlikely in PNW). I dont have room in my garage so unless I buy a canvas cover or use a canopy I'm limited to my options.

Regardless I will need to find the leak before doing anything else once I stop that I can always dry things out more and redo any areas that didn't fully dry.

I find it kind of humorous really. I'm wondering which one of us said "ah crap" first, lol. We'll have to get them water tight and keep on moving, better now than later for me since I'm putting in differant carpet.
I'm a little jealous of your permanent lack of carpet though. I've always said that there's no place in a jeep for carpet, it's just dumb. I plan on Rhino liner some day but saving up for my lift parts and tires before that.

Rhino lining is cheap though, only thing it cost is $40-50 for the gallon. I went with 1qt and it nearly did my entire interior. That was $25 I think with military discount. Well its time consuming as well and defiantly not good to do if you can't keep it warm and dry while it cures. At least you have a shop to pull yours in. 24 hrs I would say its fully cured enough to put on another coat.

Problem is if your carpet is getting wet then I would imagine your floors have rust even if its surface and you might as well get after it before it gets worse.

What size lift you doing? IRO brand right? Long arms?

Mine is 4.5" Rubicon Express but yet to install need more time to do that.

I thought about doing Herculiner or similar diy kinda thing but a buddy had his Yota done at a shop by the professionals with Rhino liner and he said it's much thicker, warmer and quieter. I like diy stuff but want to have it as warm as possible for taking out city folk and future grandkids. So I'm kinda leaning on spending the cash (someday) for that route. Who knows, I may change my mind.

I bought the IRO 6.5 long arm kit.... and I'm dieing to install it. But first things first. I've never had a full project before that didn't have to double as a dailey driver as well, so I'm trying to enjoy the build as it goes. I'm learning lots and meeting other guys going the same thing, so everyone sharing keeps the energy up. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who runs into snags here and there. And I like knowing that I'm not the only one who spent months planning my build before actually starting it.

I just got the carpets out and they were pretty wet on the passenger side and kinda wet on the drivers side. Not much to worry about since the paint is still there. Worst case scenario is taking the dash off to repair a leak or seal/replace the windshield, but I'm lucky i won't have to replace floor boards.

Got the front carpet out and thank goodness...... No Rot!!!!! I was so nervous pulling the carpet back knowing it sat for a year and a half outside before I bought it. Drivers side looks super nice
Passenger side looks fairly dang good too, just some discolored spots.

Damn I'm jealous I could eat my breakfast off that floor . For the price you paid on yours $500 you defiantly lucked out. I paid that much for mine and ended up with more work but then again that's the fun part . Sometimes lol.

Your right though coming on here reading about everyone's issues and how they over come them certainly does inspire me to keep motivated.

Last night I was watching videos of Walker Valley of Nitto Tires sponsors built WJ/TJ up and ran through that OHV park. They beat the **** out of those new rigs but made it through some serious terrain. I'm supposed to go there next month but I damn sure won't be beating the crap out of mine.

Is that paint on the floor or some kind of protection paint?

Nope, just black paint, and you can almost eat off it now that I took cleaner to it. But watch out for dog hair, that stuff was everywhere.

I don't plan on beating the crap out of mine either. I go off roading with the idea of making it home safe too.

Well I know mine is in rough shape compared to others but no matter the condition I have always taken care of my vehicles. Part of me wanted to restore the Jeep and give it to my son when he can drive which is only couple years from now but then at the same time I want to play with it. So I'll bring it back to life probably better than before and still get some use of it. Maybe I'll give it to my son or just find him something else. My parents gave me $500 for my first car or the family station wagon Chevy Cavalier 4 banger. I took the car and man it was awesome. At that time gas was .89 cents a gallon at the local REZ. So long story short I'll be keeping this one around for a long time. I might just keep it to DD as well. Just depends on life and where it takes me in a few years when I retire from the Military.

So nothing much done today. I drove the Jeep to get my hair cut and then parts store. I love driving this thing! Still need tires but the ones on it seem to hold up enough for anything local.

Picked up a locking gas cap!!! One I had was crappy and didn't seal right anyhow.

Also noticed my serpentine belt was cracking so I just decided to pick one up since today was pay day

Lastly bed liner is holding up well, still a little stinky inside but it will clear up. Mocked up floor pans on passenger side and they seem to fit well except the seat mounts bolts that come through my frame and already existing floor pan. So I'll need to find a way to mark the new pans when I go to lay them down and cut holes out for them. Bad thing I have a few extra holes already in them I'll need to find a way to plug them up now. They come pre-drilled for certain models but tag says 88-95 Cherokee so who knows. I'll make them work they are nice with high sides which will make good use for when I tack them into the transmission tunnel.

Just wanted to share that a locking cap is great to keep someone from putting something "into" your tank because they will never get anything "out" of it locking cap or not. Either will you if you ever need to for some reason. lol
