Hey everyone, welcome to my attempt at keeping a full bodied xj and throwing tons under it. This post will be a little up to speed on my Cherokee so far. I'll keep it short as I wanna focus mostly on the actual one ton build. I'll also be learning as I go with this build and it can take some time so patience from everyone is appreciated.

Picked up this guy from a friends 78' f250. Lucky for me, it had the factory snow package. Complete with good brakes and 4:10s. Axle is upside down in the picture but it's a King Pin D60. More pictures to come when i get it cleaned up. In a week or two, I'll be making a run to a pick n pull and grabbing a 14 bolt. I plan to keep them full width.

Got a full set of hd offroad's stiffeners. I'll be picking up a sheet of 1/8" steel to plate the planes these don't cover. Also getting 2x6 box tubing for sliders. And will be tying it into my frame rails with 2x2 box tubing.

It was mostly driver error that they blew up. Lesson learned lol

Did some work over the past few days and got my front stiffeners 90% burnt in. Crappy pictures and a few crappy welds. Doing some touch up work Tomarrow and then Friday I'm getting some more plate steel to do the bottom and inside of the frame rails, and crossmember. I'll post more pictures when I have better lighting in the morning.

Just get a decent lift, trim and bumpstop and you'll have just as much travel as I do. All those pics are just 10" travel shocks. Nice, clean looking wj ya got there.

Flux core mig. Told ya I wasn't the best welder lol. Welds look 3/10 but I was going for penetration. They're also not cleaned up too much.

I actually ground down the entire frame rail on the driver side and coated that and the mating surface of the stiffener with weld thru primer. I feel like it made the welds a lot sloppier. Passenger side, I made sure to only grind down the spots I was welding and left the paint and galvanizing elsewhere. I also ground down around the weld area on the mating surface on the stiffener and it came out much better.

A lot of my buddies keep telling me to get a bottle of gas since flux core is "dirty" and you have to deal with slag in the welds. But when you clean everything up it turns out good and a lot of machines are stronger with flux vs gas. I was thinking about picking up an Eastwood 175hd. It's 500 and you can do a little more than my lincoln 140hd.
