Its been super long since an update...
I got new "33 falken wildpeak A/T's
A bumper, fender flares, lights, ect.
This winter going to Mt bachelor, 3 hour drive, the engine started knocking when I got there, the oil was boiling lol. Made it about half way back top speed 40mph just hammering the whole way then BOOM!
So....
I bought a stage 2 stroker kit from clegg
I gasket matched and polished the head myself and had my machinist install the oversized valves, surface the head and block, bore .060 over and line bore (that was $500)
All new top quality parts used, high flow water pump, hf oil pump, all new sensors, distributor, headers, flex plate, poly motor mounts, 200 amp alternator, ect..
bored renix throttle body 60mm
Im about $4000 into it with all the upgrades....
more posts soon

Teaser, this was Sunday night.
The squeak was just the new idler pulley and I stopped because gauges were not working due to corroded fuse.

I mentioned what happened at beginning of post #76, just old and driving it so hard for so long the bearings washed out then it was just big clearance metal on metal for about 60 miles! I was impress by how long it hammered, it got to where it was pedal floored and I couldn't get over 35, a few miles after that it slowed down rpms then just a light smack smack puffffff. Rods thru block, oil spewing onto exhaust, ahhh. worst part is my buddy I meet at the mountain towed me back with a ford! I was super thankful for that ford that night though. I had two full spare blocks so had no care about grenada. I have blown up a few motors... and auto trans.... next to go, the old dana 35 with all the power!
Back in 2012 I started this thread
It certainly didn't turn into a budget build at 4k...
But now the stroker is finally complete, I just need to put my bumper back on.
Took the boat out Sunday, it did great, aside a oil leak at the front of the pan and made it all messy. I used a one piece felpro rubber gasket the expensive one and it still leaked right between the two front bolts at the timing cover. I lossed the pan in the front, brake clean and air then shoved permatex the right stuff black in there, tightened up bolts, good to go no leaks.
It feels as fast towing my boat as it did before without towing lol. I can actually pass slow trucks in the pass lane on the highway now!
Its loud, its rough, it clatters a bit, smokes a bit, its forged internals and moly rings, I have 70 miles on it
More pics and vids to come
I REALLY need to paint those rims....
Parts wishlist (in no order)
roller rockers
winch
97+ manual doors
exhaust
windshield...
bilstein shocks
rear dana 44 with disk brakes

I painted the wheels
New slotted rotors, ceramic pads and calipers up front
New passenger upper and lower MOOG ball joints
Still running
Still dripping some oil at front of pan, gonna pull and reseal on 500 mi oil change which is due soon
Working on exhaust now, its gonna be good, dynomax super turbo 2.5" from down pipe flange back.
My 89 Cherokee next to my 89 535is
Engine shot, working on cowel intake

Thanks!
Many things in the works. Need to take pics of various stuff done like exhaust. I put a brand new oil pan on to stop the leaks.
I now have a m90 supercharger from the Thunderbird in my posession. Getting the mounting bracket sent at end of the month when theyre made.
Ill be starting as new thread about fuel management and how to beef up the aw4 trans.

2 years later and not much has changed. Only about 5000 miles since the build.
I still have the m90 and have the mounting plate, no plans to get it installed soon though, working on turbo bmw.
That oil leak I kept battling ended up being front front crank seal. It was a new balencer and timing cover, tried a new seal still leaked. Ended up putting a crank pulley repair sleeve on with another new seal. During the process of removing/installing the crank pully so many times the threads stripped out... So I bought $120 worth of drillbit and tap to made the crank bolt the next size up along with a new 12.9 bolt.
Finally no more leaks on my new engine! I dont know if the crank pulley was off spec or what but the sleeve fixed it.
Also put in a 3 row all aluminum radiator and a big trans cooler, you can kinda see in the crank pulley pic.
I went on a thing called the gambler 500 with a group of friends, basically driving backroads a long ways camping along the way to a location where there was thousands of rigs and a big party. It was a lot of fun.
I didnt get nany pics of the jeep but a few of the places it went.
Its been doing this thing while cruising on the freeway it will go in and out of torque lock and it up shifts at the most inconvenient times then wont down shift even floored so I have to manually shift it into 3rd. I think the kick down cable is stretched byound use, I keep adjusting it and seems ok for a but but goes back.
I really want to get my other aw4 rebuilt with hd components, get the valve body kit working and wire up a switch for manual 1-2 gear and one for torque converter lock up.

Did some trail driving on private logging land.
Still running good, really want to update the interior. First time I've slept in the jeep, took out back seat bottom cushion and gave me just enough room.
Some pics
Climbing the mountain
First time sleeping in jeep
My friends Mitsubishi Delica, RHD manual turbo diesel. Cool factor 11. Factory limited slip rear and locking front hubs.

a sad sad day
A very sad day, on Dec 1st 2023 I sold my beloved cherokee after 13 years of adventures.
Since I got my 4wd Dodge truck to tow the boat the last time I drove the jeep was a year ago. I just dont drive it anymore and it needed togo to someone that will use it. Plus its hard to maintain 5 vehicles...
Goodbye old friend.
I fixed the rust hole and bed lined the floor boards before I sold it, turned out nice.
A final goodbye pic
