Just got her yesterday, figured I'd kick off a build thread. Its' gonna be slow though. Here she is!

No name yet, I'm sure it'll come in time.

It's a 1999 Cherokee Classic in "Gunmetal Pearl" :
~187,000 Miles
I6 4.0HO
AW4
NP242
C8.25 & D30HP
It's got a few issues, nothing big. A bit of surface rust on the rockers, the valve cover has a very slow leak (nothing on the ground in 24 hours) and the driver side rear door needs some work on it's electric lock. Also- biggest issue, someone twisted the seat belt.

Seat belt is fixed, but my fuel pump is out... so now the shop's dropping the fuel tank. New goodies though, hopefully I can get em on tomorrow-

Got (Mostly) everything on, so my tail gate now stays open, my interior lights are nice bluish LEDs, and my rear windows have visors on em... good thing I got them cheap because the front ones were impossible, they snapped into pieces. Also- my muffler was bad- so now I've got a Magnaflow under there!

Quick shout out for Snajo's LED set- https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f73/in...d-sets-188996/

Haven't done anything to the Jeep really... but I did get a few pics of my fun way home... I think this is as much as I can flex while stock...

Almost hit my tailpipe, but it all cleared.

Nice XJ and looks to be in great shape. I love the NP-242, and that would make an incredible daily driver with that transfer case. Nice Texas example for sure.

Finally came up with a name- Cassy.
Also- poking around I found something interesting- the original inspection form from the factory, so now I know my Jeep's birthday: September 15, 1998. Also it was custom built for "Thomas Heider"
Ordered a gas tank skid plate from Affordable Offroad, should be in soon!

Got my gas tank skid in a couple days ago, just waiting for my days off to paint it... hopefully I can do a good job of that.

Sanded, cleaned and ready for paint... if it wasn't raining today. (I gotta buy some tarps for the garage... make myself a paint-booth)

Actually kinda got stuff done today! Not really... I wanted to get my skid plate on, but the hitch receiver decided it hated me, took all freakin day to get it off.

Thing was covered in rust after the cleanup:

And that's not even all of it, if anyone wants a free hitch receiver for an XJ (the bolts pretty much all broke... except the one that was completely stripped) it's free to haul off.
ALSO- apparently I have a cut n fold mod in my future-

So I guess I also have some JCR quarter panel armor with crappy paint jobs up for grabs... never got around to getting it blasted- paint peeled.

Tried again to get my gas tank skid on... once again rust ruins my day- the gas tank heat shield won't come off, all the bolts are gone but the rust is acting like some kind of super glue. No matter how much I pry- it won't come loose... now it's just mangled back there. Yay. At least I'm tackling more rust issues, it's all in the back, everything else seems fine.
