It's not hard at all. You just need to pull off the ignition plug that connects to the steering wheel. Find the 12v power source. From here you cut and splice run one leg to the kill switch the other leg to the other half you have left. There you go. I'll draw up a diagram when I get time. My app for the site isn't working on my phone so uploading pics is annoying. I made some beefy coil spring retainers, and installed the new hood pins.
KevinC506: I'm really liking it so far. It's something that makes my jeep that much more unique.
So just had to message them to myself and use iMessage to open and save the pictures.
I'm doing my best to get work done. I did start sealing the fenders using great foam.
Cleaned up the Mx-5 engine with degreaser and power washer since I can't replace the head gasket until tomorrow. As you see from the screenshot they just shipped out my driveshaft when I was told it was shipping out last wednesday... Seriously playing with fire when you try bull-sh**ing me.
Never taken out my ignition lol but those retainers look BEEF! Also, finally!
Give me a couple days, I'll get some pictures to help aid you. Along with color of the wires, and an actual wiring diagram. You will need a voltmeter that works for DC. Wire strippers, 14 or 16 gauge wire, and dual female crimp connectors. Heat shrink is recommended but not required; zip ties follow the same as heat shrink.
As far as the coil retainers, only took me 30 mins to make them both. It took a measuring tape, angle grinder, drill and drill bits, vice and hammer.
I lost one of my retainer clips from the bolt stripping out the threads....turns out many TJs come factory with only one clip lol so I don't mind it.
I used the torx head bolts that were used for my front brake lines since i had new mounts that used self tapers. It's nice because they are slightly bigger and have an incredibly snug fit. The IRO coil springs are so beefy that they bent my coil retainers as you can see in the previous pictures. I have some spare metal laying around so I got to work. I don't think I'll be getting any work done tomorrow but friday I'm going to buy bolts for the unibody tie ins.
On that note, anybody know the sizes I should get for the bolts? I plan on using 7 bolts on each side. Any insight is much appreciated. Once I drill those babies out and get the D-ring tabs sandwiching and welded to the tie ins; so I can install my stock bumper. Hopefully by Saturday or Sunday I can post pics of her looking beyond sexy
Hate us cause they aint us. Y'all are peanut butter and jealous!!! Rubbing KY jealous all over your genitals... And I'm being serious about feeling like I'm at a stand still.
Guilty as charged.... totally jealous. But my build is still slower than yours

Spring retainer clip.... why have I never seen that before. Makes much more sense than limiting strap.
All XJs and most Jeeps with coils come with retainer clips. Problem is the bolts they come with strip out the threads quickly and typically are tossed once you remove the stock coils for anything. I wouldn't trust a single clip as a way to limit the drop.

No, I'm sure they wouldn't, but if you welded a tab that the other end of the clip could wedge UNDER, you'd essentially create a double sheer... as for the threads, just get a bolt long enough to go all the way through and put a nut on the bottom.
