At full droop the beefier ones I made will hold those springs in place and not let fall out.
On a different note my driveshaft I ordered wasn't made to the spec I sent. It's 1.25 inch too long. I was planning on making the trip up to Jacksonville to get it shortened by Florida Powertrain; that didn't happen because my fuel pump gave out on the Tahoe. So taking the Mini Cooper S up to Jax in the morning to get the driveshaft shortened and hit up the beach. I used Great foam to help aid in sealing the rear fenders and it worked great. Picking up the 1/2 inch hardware for the tie ins on Thursday along with her new Tag. I can't get a customized one until I get my Fl license so I'll have it registered in my sisters or parents name until the end of summer.
So I got my driveshaft back from getting it shortened and rebalanced it took 3 hours and 75 bucks. I spent that time at the beach so all in all a good day.
BEST NEWS TODAY!!!
I drove her 15 miles and no driveline vibrations. Got up to 70 but with 3.55 gears it wasn't all that fun. I got the death wobble from hell once I hit my dirt road. I noticed I didn't completely tighten my Trackbar so I'll make sure everything is buttoned up and torqued to spec in the morning.
3.55 on 35s! Watch that tranny temp. Happy to hear it's driveable now and no longer having to wait on the driveshaft to work. 4.56 or 4.88 coming next?
I'll be going 4.56s until I decide to a do an axle upgrade later down the road. I'm already running a large aftermarket tranny cooler. I do need a tranny gauge though. I'll be regearing first or second week of June. I plan on getting everything else finished up on her today like front tie ins, bumper, putting m grill back together. Tracking down the fuse/relay that goes to my blinkers. Wiring up a secondary headlight harness to boost lighting effect. I did notice I need to reduce the tire pressure in the tires. I'm still running the max 35 psi so I'll be dropping that down that 20-22 psi for a more comfy ride. I'll see if I can get you guys a pic of my awesome license plate light i threw together in a pinch so I could drive it last night.
I ride 33psi on 31s, i'd go in the 20s for 35s for sure.
I'm running 28-30 psi and it's a really smooth ride. My mileage isn't actually that bad. No it's not great but not as bad as I expected with stock gears.
Chilling at the beach yesterday while I waited on my driveshaft.
I really hope anybody who's seeing this gets as much of a laugh out of it as I did.
Just for comparison against the "lowered" car (not as low as usual)
We all do it, I was literally driving down my dirt road and thought, "Hey!! I could semi flex here.
Flexing her a little bit with a floor jack and a piece of 4x4
What it cost to fill up from about a quarter of a tank.
Haven't seen it like this in forever, excuse the blurry shot.
