Some updated pics. The first one is of some new body damage caused by a hungry tire. In need of more bumpstopping. Oh well. The rest are of the rocker project. Yes I'm teaching myself to weld. The grinder is very nessary to make my slagg look decient. LOL

I'll be cutting them out, and placing them inside the remaining part of door sills. Then, plan on plating the chassis. After its all welded, I'll drill some holes in the rockers and pass some tubing through it to create some door protection. These will pass through and be welded to part of the plating on sub frame. This should give me a better foundation to build the rest of my ideas off of.

Hopefully it comes out similar to the kit Gen-Right is working on.

Steering upgrades arrived today. One ton crossover and new RE stablizer. Also found a tank skid at local yard for $17.00 a couple weeks back.

Steering installed. First impressions are mixed. I have no bumpsteer anymore and adjustments are simple. However my little wondering problem is horriable now. I must have done something wrong.??? I'm going to have to get it in to an allignment shop and hopefully that corrects it.
Is that the Rugged Ridge Steering? If so, thats your problem. I had that steering setup and I hated it. The problem is the design which causes the tie rod to roll as you turn and it causes the steering to have a dead spot.

You are right, it dose have a dead spot. Yes it is similar to the rugged ridge set up. I have figured out the problem though. The way I mounted the stablizer was binding on the brkt. it mounts to. Causing it to fight with the direction I was trying to steer. No more dead spot either. All in all, I'm satisfied. Another job off the list.

Did more welding tonight on sliders( need more hours of practice). Also changed pass side unit bearing. Can once again travle at highway speeds without fear for my life. Also have been playing with to new steering system and have some ideas on doing an over the knuckle swap. My drivers side knuckle seems to be kinda wobbled out of round on the bottom and is creating a small problem with proper torque spec. Thought if I did OTK I may be able to solve it without replacement of knuckle. Has anyone done this?
