MALL CRAWL ALERT

Had a fun time with all this snow we got. I got to play last night for the last time (I hope) this season. This was my first actual flex with the xj and I simply had too much fun. One day I'll get my lift kit out on and bigger tires... But for right now, this will do.

The business I'm taking it to told me they got real behind. My guess is that the bad weather took a toll. My appointment is the 17th Tuesday at 3pm. I'm going away all next week with the wife so the xj is going to just chill for the time being. It will be a happy little present when I get home.

So I took it in today to get this bumper put on and frame fixed. After an hour in the shop they told me they can't do it because it needs to be put on a frame bending/straightening machine. I'm going to call a friend today to see if he can do it for me I'm getting really tired of this mess. The shop was real good though; they returned my security deposit and didn't charge for any labor.
Another +1 for the jeep club woes.

In other news, I did buy window tint and a radiator flush kit today. At least this day will be semi-productive.

Sounds sketchy, never heard that happen unless the whole thing is rotted away. The stock bumper is held in by three bolts under the header panel and the extension brackets for the aftermarket bumper uses the steering box bolts, it shouldn't be hard. I can see the stock bolt holes being messed up if the jeep was ever in an accident though. Any pictures?

The point I'm pointing to is where he said it's too caved in for them to fix it.

Here is the bracket for the aftermarket bumper I have. The last pic is how it should fit. Flush.

I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and let a shop get it done.

Default Hold this, I have an idea...

I have an idea...

Can I say screw it on trying to get this issue back to the (almost) original specs and bypass the front two bolt holes?

Take a hammer and flatten out the section that pops out, fold the stock bumper pieces in so they are out of the way, bolt the bracket to the remaining holes and weld the bracket to the unibody? I'm still getting a good number of mounting points with the bolts that are left.... If I ever change the bumper it will be to have a winch on the front of it, so It will need to be strong enough to hold. Thoughts???

Going with my idea. My inlaws friend has a welder so we called him up and he said he can get it on today. That's in just over 2 hours... Let's see...

Got the bumper on. Didn't have to weld it, managed to get all the rear bolts on good and just hear up the front part.

Bucket list: get new bumper on CHECK
