Getting a new starter on Monday. Finally got me a code reader. Cost me 50$ at the store. Found these error codes. P0303 and p0304. Booklet says cylinder 3 and 4 are misfiring. First I'm going to change the spark plugs and inspect the wires. Then clear the code and fire it up. If it comes back I'll check out the rails and see if something is wrong.
Edit: in case some one reads this, I meant dist. Not rails. The engine is donor from another vehicle. It still had a dist.

I like this little booger. Through this project, I have seen time and time again how shops and stores bleed money off people hand over foot. One person wanted 450$ for what I could do for a few hours and 100$ in goods.

Well it's a day off which means a day under the jeep. Taking off the starter today, planning out the "war wagon" modifications I'm doing (kill switch, push button start, Black Out mode). I got an aunt that has a two car garage with an open bay so I'm going to hijack it for a few days till the starter is done. Going to take advantage of the time indoors to do some of the fine detail work that would be stupid to do in these temps.
It's crazy this year, already 18 out and supposed to he 70 on Monday.

So today I worked on removing the dash to install my push button start. It requires an additional switch that will be hidden so to act as a kill switch to the starter. I'm removing the lock plate so I don't have to have a key with me.
Also did another cosmetic change.. Angry eyes
Testing with electrical tape to see if I like it/ get pulled over for it. Easy fix if I don't like it.

I hate having to stop right in the middle of work.... I got the airbag off and the dumb steering wheel puller doesn't fit properly. The two bolts don't fit into the metal bar.... C3 products: Cheap Chinese crap. Tomorrow evening I will finish taking out the lock plate and reassemble the unit. Hopefully rewire the the switches as well and have the push button system working. Also finishing my "stealth" mode Wednesday. Have to wait to button everything up until I get the starter back and make sure all my connections are good. It's funny, you drive the thing for less than 2 weeks and it feel like forever just after 3 days on the jack lol
The pic is what I used to talk me through the process of the airbag removal

well I got the new spark plugs, wires, dist. cap and rotor, and a spark plug socket. I'm looking forward to tonight when I get that all changed over. I still don't have the starter back so I wont be able to see if I fixed the cylinder 3 and 4 misfire yet. Hopefully its just a plug or the wire...
I am making a shield for the starter out of some sheetmetal. Its going to mount where the bolts are for the starter mounting area and make a semi-circle around the top of the entire unit. The idea is that oil will drip onto that shield and roll off the sides. I'm also changing the oil to the 5W30 and Mopar filter. getting rid of the Fram that I put on before "I came to know the path of truth" lol. Wally world sells them so that's easy.
And finally tonight I will be removing the lock plate and setting up the switch and button ignition system. As stated, I'm adding a hidden kill switch for safety.
Hopefully by February I will have saved up enough to get the tires I want. The ones on it now were cheap and just a filler since the old ones were shot.... even more than Bonnie and Clyde.

Well the majority was the IAC. Idle air controller. Just pop it off and clean it with throttle body cleaner. Don't spray into the electrical terminals though. It's the black piece in the pic. Disconnect the cables and undo the torx bolts. One on top and one on bottom... It's a pain though.

Well, took a few hours but I got the push button, switch, and hidden kill switch had the son of a friend help me out tonight. Mostly to drink soda and chit chat but still helped out!! Drained all the oil, and letting it sit overnight. New fluids coming Friday. Hopefully new starter will go on next Monday. Also, my wheel turned just fine without me having to get into the wheel and remove the lock plate. Other thread said maybe it was already missing or broke. Either way, the tires turned no problem, no locking. I'm going to turn it full spin before I take it out first though.... Just to make sure.

Finishing spark plug stuff tonight and oil. Scored 9 quarts of GTX synthetic 5W30 at dollar general for 30$. Not sure if it was a system glitch or not... Either way not my problem
