Default 1993 manual tran, 4.0 2 door sport

Hello i joined this forum because today i went and looked at the above mentioned vehical with 180,000 miles for the price of $500.00. Shes a ugly animal with almost no interior left and minor rust on the rockers, ( nothing i cant handle with a mog and sheet metal ). I asked a few a friends and they said id be an idiot not to buy it. My question to you is are they right? I have a list of all the repairs that has been made to it if that would help making a decision.
Thank you DeTuite

Clutch package
Radiator
Rotors
Brakes
Water pump
Tension pulley
Serpatine belt
Leveling springs
Driveshaft
And a few others i cant remember. All of these were within 30k miles or three years. He definitly didnt drop any money on cosmetics but the motor and exhaust are dead quiet, the 4 wheel drive worked when engaged.

Or you don't....

Thank you gents.
One last question for yinz if you will. I also just stumbled on a 95 grand cherokee laredo with the 4.0 with 122,000 for 1,400 needs front springs and a windshield. Is this vehical as reliable as the 93 sport? Was thinking one for the family and one for the WV mountains during backpacking season. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks again

Go with the XJ. I own an XJ trail rig and I DD my ZJ. The trannys are notoriously junk. I've already put one tranny in mine. The XJ is honestly way more dependable.

X2 that...u have to build a ZJ ...IMO.. I Love the ZJ except for the v8 and with the trans problems!!! Congratz on your ride...My first Jeep was a 93 Sport 2 door ..Rust Bucket..I Drove it back from SD home 1,000 miles for 500 bcks. Had it for 3 years and let her go.. should have kept it!!!

4.0 ZJs suck ballz since most had 355s, and the auto isn't terrible, but it's not great either. Mine has 373s and it was pretty decent with the auto and 235/75s. Not the best on the highway

The v8s aren't bad motors, but the 4.0 is hard to beat (well, in a drag race easy to beat)
ZJs are a hell of a lot more comfortable. You could go on and on about the plus and minus of each jeep

Mornin guys. Thanks for the info and feedback. I couldnt decide so i bought both lmao. Got both for 1900.00 so figured why the hell not. The 95 is in fantastic shape, it was a lil old ladies and you can tell it was garage kept. The 93 is its complete oposite, she is ugly as sin but the guy i got it off of spent the money where it matters most so i couldnt be happier. Thanks again guys i cant wait to begin getting my hands dirty with these.
