Default Fun!

Wheeling anyone? Outer Banks hidden spots (or just unknown by most). Access is by beach, tight forest trails, sandy slalom tracks with high bank turns, hill climbs to 50' , steep dips and turns, and wild horses. Not trespassing.
Ride with me on the forest and dune trails if you don't want to scratch your jeep. HA

I went again yesterday. Clocked 42 miles off road driving. 120 miles of pavement, over an hour on bicycle into False Cape Stare Park. Total was 10 hours.
Once summer starts the area is much less accessible.

Ouch, that sounds serious.
South Mills happens to be 25 miles due West of the Currituck beaches. But by pavement it is 75 miles. For me it's 60 miles away, due North.

Is it legal or is it hitting a federal park?

Here is a map where it is. Around the towns of Swan Beach and Carova. Highway 12 is the route and travels the beach for 11 miles to the NC/VA line where False Cape State Park begins.

Everywhere I go is legal.
The federal park is 100% legal and located on Hatteras Island where I reside. However there are off-limits (to trucks) areas for 'resource protection', mostly in the summer.
The mentioned adventure is the Currituck Beaches where the beach is a designated highway. The trails are either within town limits, hunter access routes, or perimeter of wildlife refuge.
(pictures are Hatteras Island, beach is federal park, Cape Hatteras National Seashore and Recreation Area. Forest trails are state owned)

That is by far some of the best info I have got from anyone since I have been on the forum. My trip has been postponed due to my front right brake caliper failing but after I replace them this week-end I plan on making my way down to the beach!!

Its always a great day when you are an hour from home and your front right caliper decides to lock up on the brand new rotor you put on a few weeks ago, and destroy some pads….thanks jeep for making my trip home so interesting

I have had that issue before.
When you install new calipers be sure and look closely at the tabs on steering knuckle where the brake pad ends make contact.
This area gets nicked or roughened and can cause the brake pad to stick. It generally needs to be cleaned up every time brake pads go on (emery cloth, file).
How hot did your brakes get and for how long? If they were smoking/stinking hot for any period of time, it will have detrimental effects on the hub/wheel bearings! When was the last time the hub bearings were replaced?
Good news is calipers come with new pads. I suggest NAPA for hard parts, not Advanced or Autozone.
When bleeding the brakes its a good time to flush out the old brake fluid. I use the technique that does not require a second person (clear hose and jar).

Matt- Looks like I finally found the source of my misfire. It was still doing it after swapping back to stock injectors so I finally made a call to my friend at the dealership. One night he brought home the diagnostics computer and we went through the systems. Ended up pulling the camshaft synchronizer and lo and behold the teeth on it were all worn out. Kinda concerning too because I just replaced it 3 years ago.

He says its a common issue with the design and that even the mopar ones wear out also. Got a new one in and timed it and shes running better than she has for some time now. Thankfully just in time for me park my Z and finish getting it ready for Wacky Wednesday.

HA, now you can install a spark plug in the tailpipe and energize it with a coil. Flames will shoot out the tailpipe.
Works with older cars with no cat converter.
Luckily I do not have ricers here, being low is a liability.
