We've done a few meetups. HRJC (Hampton Roads Jeep Club) does a quite a few and we do an annual run to Corolla each August through this neighborhood of the forum. We really should get another meetup planned soon though (hint hint to our local mod Red82 ).

I have heard of the switch melting, but mostly they just fail and stop working, like in my 96.
Now is a good time to switch to LED interior lights. I used ones that are $1.50 each and light up the jeep very well. Direct plug in LED panel with 24 lights, 1.5" square.

A fresh headliner gives it a good feel. I installed carbon vinyl and wrapped the visors also.
Link to LED interior lights.

Ok I can figure out why my 1998 Jeep XJ 4.0 AW4 is sputtering at 2300rpm. It only does it in 3rd gear.

Pull your TPS, clean it up and reinstall it and report back. Easy and only costs a can of throttle body cleaner.

Already done that and replaced tps. What should happen when you unplug the IAC?

Did you replace with a mopar tps? Never use an aftermarket tps, they have the highest fail rate, my buddy at the jeep dealership has seen em fail right out of the box.

no start, rough idle, intermittent stalling, bad acceleration would be the main symptoms.

Will it just shudder but still shift into 4th/OD?

Well the funny thing is I disconnected the IAC and it ran fine but it still sputters at 2300rpm

I'm still thinking TPS then to be honest. I know it's a pain, but I would return the RockAuto one and get a true MOPAR.
