SW VA XJ's/MJ's, Roanoke/NRV to Bristol, post up!
There is no "PCV" on any XJ/MJ 4.0! The CCV takes its place! The CCV orifice slows down the vacuum as it is pulled out of the crankcase. Its a "controlled" vacuum leak. The front elbow lets fresh "filtered" air into the crankcase to complete the breather cycle. The CCV inlet(front elbow) needs to be filtered to keep dirt out of the crankcase that is why it is always hooked up to the air box on the intake side of the filter. If you start seeing oil there its a sure sign that the CCV is stopped up or your rings are shot. Valve seals will cause a lot of oil smoke on start up but not be noticeable after that.
Not the news i wanted. It doesn't smoke unless I'm sitting at idle for maybe one to two minutes but it goes away after accelerating or even just hitting the gas. Looks like it needs a complete teardown i guess.
And i do notice a puff every now and then on start up.

Hey Jon,
Case and I are planning on running Potts on Sunday. Potts is open, right? We got Casey's cherokee running two weeks ago, coil connection problem and CPS together.
Thanks.

Hey Jim! yes it is open. You will notice a bypass at "The Stacks", that is not legal per the NFS Rangers. If you see anyone in there let me know. The trail is in great shape and is a lot of fun. I wish I could go but I'm getting my rig ready for the Cherokee Crawl at Harlan KY next month.
