The 8.8 WILL spin the tubes on you if you don't weld them and they are still a C clip axle so no real advantage there. Add a set of ZJ discs and you have a cheap and strong axle. I'm running 29 spline 8.25's on all 6 of our XJ/MJ's

Both axles have plenty of aftermarket support and are easy to install gears in if you know what you are doing.
I must say I do love the Ford 8.8 because it has no carrier break and 31 spline shafts but I must agree my 8.25 has never given me a single ounce of trouble!

You'd be my hero. I think I'll keep the 3.55s a while then tackle a gear swap.

Should've figured that. I know you're dying to get your new axle under the heep. I'll get a notification on my phone when it happens. Haha. I'm just excited to get an axle to tear apart and rebuild.

No carrier break on the 8.25 either. Here is the one in the trail rig; 29 spline Yukon shafts, RuffStuff truss, RuffStuff cover tied into the truss, Crush sleeve eliminator, Titanium u-joint straps, Aussie Locker, cryoed Nitro 4.88 gears, shaved diff housing, raised shock mounts. All work done by me including gear set up(I do all my own gears)

Its been in the Jeep for 3 years
