SW VA XJ's/MJ's, Roanoke/NRV to Bristol, post up!
Right. Take a socket extension or something that will reach the top of the CPS and tap on it pushing it closer to the flex plate. This might get you a couple of more starts. Sometimes cold water poured over the CPS will work if heat is the reason it shut down. I don't think yours is heat related though.
I have replaced so many of those things over the years that I wish there was another alternative to the bell housing mounted CPS(there is but the HESCO front mount CPS kit is expensive!)
I carry the tools in each XJ to replace the CPS and I carry a spare in each XJ.
Extensions are expensive so I take a 4' 3/8" rod, weld a 11mm wobble/universal socket to one end and a 3/8" drive, 3/8" socket on the other. Then I just pick up a el-cheapo 3/8" ratchet and put the home made extension, ratchet and spare CPS under the rear seat in each XJ that way I have it and the tools to replace it with WHEN IT FAILS, not "if" LOL!

I'm thinking I should get a spare one listening to you guys talk. I've heard they are a nightmare, but my jeep hasn't hesitated to start once in the 2 yrs I've owned it (knock on wood)
Job is dope, everyone is very laid back and the bread is oh so sweet. I'll bring a loaf when we all hit the trails :-) we serve a mean breakfast too, stop in and say hey anytime after 7am
