Default Wyoming Jeeper Stuck in Philly

Hey all,
I came into Philly for a work conference and now I'm completely stuck. My flight was cancelled and now rebooked for Saturday. I have 2 full days in Philly before I fly out. I need some ideas of things to do while I'm here in this weather. I would love to help work on a jeep or two to pass the time.

Thanks,
s

Thanks for the idea. I'll be heading out since the motel is driving me insane. Go ahead and give me a call if anyone would like to meet up.

I'm at the Sheraton at University City. I'll have to take a walk to the museum and smithsonian. Great ideas.

hit up Geno's steaks.

or Pat's.

or both.

theyre right next to each other, and there is debate as to which is better.
maybe an outsider's opinion would help haha.

personally i like Geno's.

I walked down to Geno's and Pat's. I was stuffed from Potbelly's so I didn't partake, but I wasn't too put out by that. Most of the locals that I talk to think of those steak shops are for the tourists as there are much better shops in town. I've had 3-4 different cheesesteaks and honestly I was quite startled that they actually tasted so much different. I mean, there really isn't all that muuch to them, but dangit, they're good.

HA HA. The only one mentionable was Jim's! If we're talking about the same spot, it is on South Street in what looks like a 50's style diner with seating on the second level. Great eating. I also went to Abner's which was actually quite good, but that was because they thought I asked for double cheese and I got hot peppers on it. There were a couple more from mom and pop places or windows on the sidewalk, but I couldn't remember them.

Yeah, I walked by condom kingdom. I didn't know what to expect when I saw it down the street, then when I walked by it, I couldn't help but laugh. I was behind two guys. One tried to go in the store and the other pretty much pulled him out of the store and said he wouldn't go in the store with another guy unless he had a girlfriend. ha ha.

The snow didn't seem to be that intense to me. But, there is no place to put it since the last big snowfall was earlier this week. Also, it is a very very wet snow so it is heavy and slick because it packs. Add the fact that this is WAY more snow than Philly is used to (per the news) so the infrastructure isn't there to handle it. Ultimately, I didn't think it was all that big of a storm, but then again, consider the source. I'm from Wyoming, where it is much colder and snows much more with a LOT more wind to cause drifts. We all also trive trucks that can handle the snow even if the roads aren't plowed...but since the towns are small in Wyoming and we expect to get a lot of snow, we have well established snow routes with maps detailing the roads that will be swept in what order. Basically, Wyoming is ready for tons of snow and Philly simply wasn't. It was nice to walk around in the middle of the 'blizzard' though. I was walking around all day and came in at about 11:30pm (nothing to do in the motel). Sucked though since nothing was open.

That place on South Street is touristy too.

Pat's and Geno's is good, but i prefer a chopped steak.

Tony Luke's has a great Roast Pork with Brocolli Raab.

Your in University City? My bud works just up the road at 36th and Market i think it is. Your close to 30th St Station.

What part of Wyoming are you from? My bud bought 30 acres outside of Medicine Bow a year or two ago.

The sheraton is on 36th and Chestnut. I'm a block away from your buddy.

Wyoming is a different story. Medicine Bow is East of Rawlins a ways. I'm only 20 miles South of the Montana Border so I'm a good 4+ hour drive from your buddy's property.
