Im trying to figure out what size tires to uprade too. After the lift and the cutting i did, the 31s i got are looking a little on the small side now.... im also trying to figure out what gear set to get. I want to go to 4.88s but i also want to over gear if i decide to just go up to 33s. But it would alow me to go up to 35s and 37s later on.
Go for 33's man. You'd be surprised how capable your rig will be. I had 33's on my '92 with 3.5" and about as much trimming as you've done. I put 4" bump stop exensions on the spring perches up front to keep the tires out of the fenders. Left me with plenty of articulation. I also had a 29 spline 8.25 w/ factory LSD in it that worked well in the sand and mud. Factory 3.55 gears too. Definitely could've used the upgrade to 4.10's, but it was fine on the flat roads here in florida. Could feel the little extra "grunt" you needed to give it when climbing though, that's for sure.
I tried replacing the carden bearing in my drive shaft but broke the yoke in the process so now it's $150 to rebuild the whole drive shaft, new u joints and all, but other than that I'm blessed! TGIF

I'd trade my xj for the right mj in a heartbeat lol
It's just a toy to me now. Was my daily driver but, I realized that as fun as it is, it's not a family friendly vehicle. I nolonger have to cram the family into it to go anywhere and if it breaks again, I have a reliable vehicle to drive.
My ultimate goal I'd to put one (an Mj) sky high on one tons with a turbo'd straight six on tractor tires.... If only I could win the lotto lol but I'll gladly settle for my xj right now...
