Sounds like a good idea COS, I'm running two renix, one with very slow electric windows when the lights are on. Might give that a try.
By the way, the beast lives. Found out the main problem was sucking a washer up into a piston. The valves and cylinder walls were in good shape but it made a mess out of the top of the piston, probably increased my displacement by a cc or two. That and a couple of rod bearings. Back on the road for $45.
Now I will take it up somewhere this weekend and see if i can break it again.

lots o fab work to come.
cos, as an electrician, i can tell you that quality of wire makes a HUGE difference. you can make em as big of guage as you want, but if the wire quality is subpar, so will be your results. glad that worked out for ya!! my 00 xj doesnt have power anything, so i dont have this problem!!

congrats on the bender D! can't wait to see what you do with it.
oh and congrats congrats to you too Bill! What a great feeling when you can fix something for a lot less than what you thought.

I didn't actually buy it. I'm building some more bumpers for sampson, and told him I would do so for a bender. He was all over it! I should have it in 4-5 days
Next weekends project, front and rear tube xj bumpers.
Then mine!
Just gotta order some dimple dies.

jd2 and pro tools benders are both around $350 plus around $300 per die....so right around 650-700 with one die.
you can also get bender plans from gottrikes.com and build your own. they just use the pro tools or jd2 dies. this will save money, and you can bend vertically. bending in a horizontal bender can be a huge pain when you have multi-plane bends....and you usually need two people. there are other benders out there, but you can search on those.....these are the only ones i have experience with.
about got the turd jeep on my stock axles last night. i used some long arms i had laying around and welded tubes from the bump stop tubes to the coil buckets to hold it up. ghetto!! im soooo excited to get my whole garage back!!
anyone neeed any parts before it goes???? brand new tb, newer starter, newer alt, grant steering wheel with billet alum install kit(missing horn button), intake/exhaust manifolds, computer, dash with title(i may be using for a future buggy project)...ect. its a 1992 4.0L xj.

No, a battery cable. The one with the smaller eye on each end, not the big clamp. Like a cable you would run from a solenoid to a starter, that bolts on at each end. I had a brand new cable like that lying around, and used it for the main power wire from the battery to the bundle of joy on the passenger side fender well...

Good work D!
Well, I sold my bmw last night. That's 4 cars in a row I sell to the 1st person to see it.
Now, the joy/pain of testing out new (used) cars. Not sure what I'm going to get, but going to be hard to replace the best car I've ever owned.
