Well I was running the rock garden and I made it through easily on the buggy line. Dropped off the far side heard a crack and pulled over and saw the cracks well no onboard welder so I ran it and at the bottom of the trail it was almost off the axle completely babied it on the trailer and came home I'll grab some pics later
that sucks man. was that an RE truss system? when you rebuild it/reweld it, tie it into your diff cover like the ballistic truss. will spread the load on a larger area.....then add gussets.
im guessing the crack started on the driverside coil bucket? my old RE truss did it three times, then i gusseted the crap out of it....still hasnt ripped off that xj.
hope ur back on the trails soon bro!
so im quoting myself cuz i now have to insert my foot in my mouth.
sooooo i should have know better than to goto orielly instead of napa for my ball joints, but i did anyways.
long story short, drove the jeep to work today and when i got it up to highway speeds, my jeep was wondering way more than usual.
stopped and took a look from the front. the side i just did bj's on, was cocked out at the top.....gave me the wrong ones right?????....nope. went back to get some more just now and they handed me the same ones.
swung by napa, and they instantly gave me the right parts, and the are def better quality.
oriellys uses nylock nuts...sketchy on a bj IMO.
napa and every other company use a castle nut and cotter pin.
so tonight is turning into round 2 of bj's.
lesson learned here.....stop buying from orielly, autozone, and pepboys. buy napa or dealer.
on a better note, i got some new 30'' brake lines. my old ones were 22''.

i would rather pay more money for my parts than go thru that again!
ball joints went Very smooth second time around, last night. got the driverside done in about 45 mins.
also installed my 30'' stainless braided brakes lines......i got enough droop in them now, plus 4 inches to spare.

i had em on a 6.5 inch lift and stock axles, and still had a little room.
when i swapped the full widths, i made 1 inch of lift into my coil buckets and the brakes mount on the calipers way further out than a stock axle, so i had to get new ones.
