Most 4 and 5 speed manual transmissions have 1:1 4th. Specifically this is true of the 3 5 speed manual transmissions used in XJs.

good links. just curious on the speedo. if my stock 28s say I'm going 60, with my 31s, i'm actually going 66? difference of about 10%.

so if my average mpg is 16, i'm actually getting 17.6? please tell me that's right lol.

New to forum here, so if this question has already been addressed, I apologize. I'm looking for a 4.7 stroked shot block. Do you guys know of anyone/company the sells them?

Going to assume Boulder by the username. Just get a 4.0 short block and find yourself a 4.2L rotating assembly for the basic foundations to build a stroker

If he has the money to be looking at companies that sell strokers $$$$...then he should just skip the stroker and get a v-8 .

If you calculate your mpg based on a 10% low speedo reeding, then yes, your actual mpg should be 10% higher.

When I went from stock to 31's mine calculates to 12.5% difference in mileage...................at least according to my GPS.
This was rechecked a week ago at 100 miles on the XJ odometer, my GPS said I went 112.5 miles.................I may not have calculated the percentage correctly, but that was my readings.

I actually got around 20mpg on my trip to Durango, so I was pleased.
