I figured I'd share this with you guys, never a bad reason to take a trip to San Diego. My buddy and I found a yard there, nothing but jeep and offroad. He has two huge junkyards in the mountains by the border somewhere. Anyway, they rebuild most of the stuff, engines, trans, tcase, axles and all that. My buddy just picked up a freshly rebuilt ax15 for his diesel cj for 800. That's cheaper than our reg. jy down here, and it's fresh!

Im usually in between 41/2-51/2 hours driving, depending on traffic and pit stops. 51/2 cruise is set on 70mph with moderate traffic.

The guys actual store front shop is in San Diego, so you don't have to drive out to the border. He gets it for us.

 

If anyone is interested... My buddy is moving and has a ton of Jeep parts. Most are from TJs... skid plate, complete 4cyl motor, AX15 with tcase and some other parts.

Thinking about buying the crashed, blue, 4door 91 xj on craigslist. He claims hit and run. I think he sucks at driving. He wants 800. Thinking about walking up with 450 if Im towing it home.

That thing took a mean hit to the front. The unibody is probably bent, not to mention it pretty much needs a whole front clip. I only see $$$$$

 

Semi new engine? Needs a radiator?! All signs point to head job!

 

I heard you can get one of those on the strip for $50 bucks.
