Default ZJ carcass

Hey guys my buddy is junking his 96 ZJ and I am looking over it ready to pick it clean for my 01. I am already going to get his rear brakes. Anything else I should snag before it gets sent to the yard?

If you still have stock steering on yours, the ZJ tie rod and drag link will be an upgrade, they're a little stronger.

Only the V8 ZJs have the beefier tie rods, the 4.0 ZJ has the same as the XJ.

How about the front calipers? Aren't they larger then the XJ's?

Same. The WJ has larger calipers, but you have to swap the knuckles and steering linkage, plus a few other things in order to make it all work. Other than the rear disc brakes there is not a whole lot you can use as an upgrade from the ZJ.

Check for skid plates. The gas tank skid will bolt up with little modification.

Front springs on a V8 model I believe provide an inch lift over stock.

It is a v8 truck. I already did the steering swap. From his actually when he upgraded his tie rod.

My springs are already lifted a bit so I doubt I will use his.

My lift also came with a transfer case skid so I will look to see if he has a gas tank. His tranny is a 242 and mine is a 231 so I dont want that.

Sell the t-case to somebody with a ZJ that has the 249 case for a few hundred bucks.

What about the seats? All you have to do is swap out the brackets and you're good to go....
