Default XJ to WJ Brakes ?

Evening guys and girls,

I posted about the poor braking on my Baby the other day and someone suggested I upgrade the brakes to WJ brakes which are twin piston, is this an easy mod, bolt on and go or is there more to it ?

Its not too hard, it mainly is tedious
and a matter of finding the right parts

Thanks,

The right parts are ? I'm a complete novice at such things but willing to ask and learn ! Is it a direct bolt on job and if not what would I need to modify ? Would I need new discs ?

You will need to swap the lower balljoints to a WJ set, get a set of WJ knuckles and have the spacer welded on, then you'll need to get 2001 TJ hubs. You'll need to decide if you want to use ford explorer discs and washers for spacers or have the stock WJ discs drilled to the 5x4.5 pattern.

Hmmm Sounds a lot more complicated than I'm capable of ! Is there an after market kit, off the shelf upgrade ?

I've got an 95 ZJ D30 laying outside. Came with the rear I needed parts from for the rear disc swap. I thought the same thing, that the brakes might be bigger on the ZJ but the aren't.
Unless they got much bigger in the newer D30s.
