whato you live back east? where they dump salt all over the road. it looks like it was parked at the bottom of the ocean. just another reason I spar down my entire chasis and under unibody with black rustoleum one a year, about 8-10 cans

I live up north in NY where they depend on salt. This is why im getting my jeep ready for this winter.
To Do List: before winter
Fix the uni body(started it today will finish it over the weekend, ill take pics)
Try to sandblast if not undercoat it very well
Make my heater vents work(no clue!!!)
That's all i can think of for the moment.

All I can say is wow man! I have never seen that before. I would change everything over to the other jeep and sell that one for parts. I am fretting over rust on my rocker panals and dont feel so bad now. Good luck and send pics of other jeep when done.

I like black just cuz it looks good. the whole brand of rustoleum will minimize rust. I guess you could do red or something but you would have to keep it clean or it would look stupid that that wouldbe a full time job. I take off the wheels and do the whole wheel well too and axles and steering arms. ive even done my engine compartment

for the engine i bought some of that engne bright spray and man that works!!! you cover your distributor and electronics and foam everytying else. I takes away all gunk and grease. then I hose it down gently ( so it wont smell at 220 f) then let it dry and get engine enamel spray paint. its made with ceramic particles so its good to 500 F.

oh d if youre wondering what that is above my swaybar in the front, its a mud and water shiel I made out ofsheet metl. the stock rubber one fell apart so I made a better one out of sheet metal. It wont stop a stump but it will rocks and water. its made out of about 6 peices that fit together arround the sway bar and steering arms. you should consider this for next winter too, to keep the salt out of your engine compartment. I still have the cardboard template

OK today made ALOT of progress!! i have pics so far but my comp is being an a**hole. So it came down to this, i cut out a section off my old jeep about 3ft witht he leaf mount, i cleaned that all up nice and then i cut it in half. after that i got the bolt out of my jeep leaf pack and cut out the broken mount and cleaned up the unibody where im welding. So since i split the other piece in half i welded it on to the previous unibody (acted like a jig/more to weld to and going to be stronger then stock). I also purchased 6ft of 2x2x3/16 angle iron to run on the bottom of both rails:A. Act like rock guards. B. be alot stronger. Got most of that welded up and then i broke a rear brake line so tomorrow il be back bustin ***** finishing my jeep.

pics asap!!
thanks -dylan-

GreenXJ95,

I have the exact same frame issue with my 96 XJ. Could you give me any pointers?

Mick
