Default XJ leans to one side

Hey guys, since I bought my 98 xj it seems to lean to the driver side. The leafs still had a little bit of an arch however just moments ago I got done installing new rugged ridge leaf shackles, heavy duty crown leaf packs, and fat bobs garage u bolts. The rear end sits up higher and the leaning is a lot better but still there. It leans 0.5in. to the driver side. I have replaced the rear shocks with monroe sensa tracks, the front shocks look brand new and are of the same brand. Could it be a worn out coil? Jeep has a clean carfax and was never wrecked, just trying to figure this out. Thank you

How much did the previous owner weigh? Leaning to the driver's side isn't uncommon and the reason why is exactly what you think it is, lol.
I'd bet on a sagging front coil. Replace in pairs.

Haha that was my first guess, it is quite possible they were on the larger side. You can see the driver seat looks like its been sat in for a long time where the passenger seat looks brand new. Next up, new coils! Thanks for the suggestion

There are some spring inserts, but I never used them.

Hi all,

Old thread I know, but mine leans to the right (driver's side here) and I have just done new coils and shocks up front. I had the leaves re-set but iv'e since been told that is useless.

New leaves then?

Thanks

Oliver

I ran an add-a-leaf in mine then eventually went with new leaf springs. Do your leaf springs currently sag or perhaps look inverted/de-arched? Iv replaced my shocks, coils, leafs, control arms..... and at times it still leans when parked.

My understanding of the RHD leaning towards to driver side, is that the passenger side was raised to clear the diff housing, but that this not had been compensated for on the driver's side. So, from get go, the RHD tends to lean more towards the driver's side. Add the spare on the right side and the average weight of the Oz driver, and there you go.

Solution for us RHD's:
Measure distance from centre axle at the wheel to bottom of fender left and right.
Get a coil spacer twice the difference (so, if the difference in 1 inch, get a 2 inch XJ coil spacer) and put it on the driver's side. Twice the difference, because lifting the driver's side only, will lift the passenger side somewhat as well. New coils otherwise could be considered, but start with this first.

Mine is awaiting my decision to finally tackle this cosmetic issue. Mine is 2.5 cm difference but makes it look like it's gone through its complete coil spring...
