Default xj has no heat

Ok so this might have been answered on a previous post. But I can't find anything. So I bought a 1987 cherokee. Everything works and runs great except the heater. I can't turn it on.. can't change where it's coming from.. nothing.. I get a slow leak of heat from the defrost but thats it.. any ideas?

Sounds like the blower motor isn't working.

Would I need to take the dash apart to get to it?

No. It's in the engine bay under the coolant bottle.

Air only out defrost is usually a vacuum problem.

Under the coolant tank, you will see to small plastic tubes come through the fire wall. 1 goes to the hot water valve, the other goes to the vacuum tank. It's not shown in the picture. Get one of those Mity Vac hand pumps. The best money you can spend on a diagnostic tool.

Glad you got it working. Not the best time of year to be without heat!
