i have had 4 xjs and everyone i had a brokin or broke front seat! is this just me or is this normal!?

My friend has a 99xj with a broken driver seat, and we went out to the junkyard today to try and find a good one. Out of 10 or so Jeeps from different years, I would say 3 or so had good driver seats. For what its worth...

I am as careful as possible when I retreve my wallet from my back pocket at the ATM...

My driver's seat was broken real bad. All the mounting holes had torn through and cracked. I pulled the seat out and welded all the cracks back together. Then for the mounting holes that were destroyed, I started by pounding the metal flat again. Then I welded a washer over the mounting hole and welded all the cracks I could around it. It's been a few months and it still holds up good.

hmmm.... ive had 6 XJ's....and not one of them had a broken seat.

It is very common for the drivers side seat pan to break. Check this thread for a cheap and easy fix.

I know that write up is for the 84-94 XJs and the seat mount changed in 95, but the process shoiuld be the same.

Nice! and the passenger seat pan is the same? Who knew?

i reinforced mine with metal strap. ran it across the base then everywhere there were rivets holding it together i welded the parts together. now there tight and dont wobble.
