I have a 2000 xj 4.0 straight six and it wont start in park. I have to start it in neutral but it wont start until the second attempt almost everytime. And when i pull into a stop and put it in park it immediately dies out do anyone have any ideas of what it could be.

 

Did you ever figure out what was causing this?

What year XJ have you got?
Does it bog and stall out in Park or just cuts out dead?

 

1998 grand cherokee Laredo so zj and I pulled into driveway put it into park and it just died and won’t start back up. It cranks but no fire, about to check the coil for spark. Any other ideas would be great.

 

1.... go to a Grand Cherokee Forum... you might have better luck

With regards to 2, I don't know if I'd say people were patriotic and normal in 16 ha. Just slightly better than now.
