Default Xj cracked flex plate question

This week I bought a 2000 xj well I got it home after a 2 hour drive home from where I got it, made it fine. The next day there is a sound coming from what sounds like the flex plate are, I checked the bolts and they are tight. It sounds like marbles in a metal bucket, it knocks when I rev it up in any gear or neutral and park, then goes away above 1500 RPMs I couldn't see any cracks through the inspection hole. Has any one had a cracked flex plate that you couldn't see the cracks from the inspection hole? Thanks

I just replaced mine. About the same noise description as you mentioned, torque converter bolts all tight.

This is what I saw when I got it out. I checked a few times prior(few weeks) to finally pulling it out and only saw the one crack leading toward the edge that day.

My son had one just like that. I told him for months it was the flex plate but he didn't believe me until we took the transmission out and he saw it for his self.

For safety, I would say don't chance it. However, I started hearing little pings in early Dec. progressively got worse, but it would come and go and really only loud at idle. In Jan, if I got on throttle hard it would really shriek and clang. So, I tried to avoid mashing the throttle. Mine is a DD, so kind of had to take the chance. Just remember it could give at any time and leave you stranded if it sheared or spun in the center as well as possible damage to the housing and tq convert.

Here is a video i recorded for the sound.
