Some idiot just totaled my 1996 XJ, so I am searching for a replacement. I read on this forum some time ago that there was a certain year to avoid as far as 4.0 engine problems are concerned, 2000 or 2001 possibly. Any thoughts?

2000 and 2001 were prone to cylinder head cracking. This lead to coolant in the oil pan wiping out the bearings.

The '00 and '01 model years also came with the low-pinion Dana 30 front axle, which is less desirable.
