How screwed am I on getting the junction box and incoming harness removed and replaced. I'm sure it ain't difficult, but I imagine it will be tedious.
As simple as this, go to JY get said box and attached harness and trace your lines and replace. Best thing is just to get dirty and explore. Take things apart. It'll help you understand your jeep more and appreciate it too. Good luck brother

I found a few pics of a complete fuse panel. I get what you were typing now. It is a cut and splice application. Junk yard tomorrow here I come.

Thanks again.

Yes, I'm from Texas.

Email Jeep customer service from their site, give them your VIN, and ask for a 'build sheet.'

Default 1990 Cherokee ignition switch wiring

Does anybody have a diagram for the ignition switch wiring on a 1990 Cherokee? I recently replaced the switch because one of the wires shorted out and I believe the the wire is ruined and is the cause for my jeep starting and then dying when the key is relased from the start position to the "run" position. Any help with what each wire does and which colors correspond to them would be a huge help. Also any other sugestions to what may be the reason for why the jeep starts and then dies right away would be greatly appriciated. Thank you.

If it is the wire, id do a push button start on it. I did and i love mine. Plus its easier and cheaper(maybe).

I'm finally getting around to a VERY intermittent problem that I've had, but I'm lost. Sometimes when I turn my key, all I get is my cluster/gauges/radio to come on. No cranking at all. After a random amount of attempts, it'll start no problem. I've ruled out the NSS, but this happens unpredictably so I am lost. What should I look at first?

Not sure on how likely but its possible the contacts in the ignition switch are worn. Id start by cleaning battery terminals and ends where the wires connect to starter, cant hurt and may be it.
Edit: pull starter relay and clean ends and inside the terminal that it plugs into

Do you hear a click when you turn the key to start? The starter solenoid should close. Have you tried giving the starter a tap with a hammer?

The only audible noise I remember hearing is that of the key cylinder turning. Nothing else makes a sound. If it was the starter, would it not crank at all? This first surfaced in 2008, but it just happens randomly (usually in the summer lol)
