I was talking to my brother-in-law about replacing the front u-joints and he said bring it by his buddies shop for a look and he'd "hook" me up. I figured no harm so I did. He said the passenger u-joint has a lot of play and it's bad, but the driver's side is fine. I find that odd because all the popping and clicking is coming from the driver's side. Does that sound right or is this guy clueless? Also he said he'd replace them $185 for one side, $350 to do both. Needless to say I didn't leave it with him.

ujoints are VERY easy to figure out if they're bad. Grab the shaft with one hand on each side of the joint and twist. There should be absolutely no rotational twisting movement in the joint - if there is it's bad.

The X shaped thing with the red seals - there's on on each front axle, 3 on the front driveshaft, and 2 on the rear driveshaft

Soooo......... Proportioning valves seem hard to come by around here. Upgrading brakes in my '91 to '95 master cylinder and booster. Any ideas? Can i use existing equipment being its bendix garbage? Any other makes/models/years i can choose from? Anyone got one layin around?

pretty sure you only have to switch the proportioning valve when you use the ZJ/WJ brake stuff since they have disk brakes in the back. If you're just putting in a 95+ booster you shouldn't need to worry about changing it.

Not positive if it's tech but I've got a northeast xj so lots and lots of stuck rusty stubborn bolts. What would be the best air tool to get? Wrench, drill, or ratchet. I've got alot of stuck bolts so I don't want something thats just gonna break. Thanks
