Not ALWAYS, Sometimes the computer won't pick up a problem from the CKP.
TESTING PROCEDURE 1991 – 2001 4.0L H.O. engines
1. Near the rear of intake manifold, disconnect sensor pigtail harness connector from main wiring harness.
2. Place an ohmmeter across terminals B and C. Ohmmeter should be set to 1K-to-1OK scale for this test.
3. The meter reading should be open (infinite resistance). Replace sensor if a low resistance is indicated.

Okay so my fuel pump won't pump. I checked to make sure im geting power back there and the meter says I'm getting 10 volts is the anything besides the fuel pump itself that could be wrong? And should replace the oe pump( just not sure how reliable these are) or just buy an external one and remove the old pump? Help appreciated thanks.

If you don't have that vacuum ball, your vents will never work.
Mine always worked fine, then I did some pretty rough off-roading and they stopped working! I checked my vacuum ball and sure enough there was a crack! I used some gorilla glue to close up the crack and my vents started working again!

Hmm I have never seen it but ok I believe it's possible. And I have never heard of an 89 with out a fuel filter. Mines an 89 and I have a fuel filter and my pumps in the tank. You might want to go check above your rear axle on the unibody rail driver side. I can almost bet there is a filter there.
Well, yea I said I put a new fuel filter in MINE, which is an '89... But the guy having the issue has a '97. I'm not too sure about those.

I went though the research when it came time to change mine the first time. Lots of misinformation on the topic since the factory service manual listed the incorrect fluid spec....
