Check the little button on the door. Or the headlight switch that turns rose lights on and off

Sent from my mind using the rusty stock leafs off my xj.

I checked the door, all it does is make them flicker now. And by headlight switch do you mean the actual lamp buttons? Cause I check those too and no go.

I have a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Lardedo.

The last couple of days, it's had a hard time starting-- it'll turn over, but won't start, or only starts intermittently.

When I got the engine to start, the check engine light came on. I got that checked, and it said I need a new speed sensor. Could the speed sensor be causing the jeep to not start, or is it likely something else?

Also-- where on the engine is the speed sensor located? I want to install it myself, but I can't seem to find where it goes.

Thanks!

AKA the crankshaft position sensor, which is the primary cause of this issue, and is quite common.

This guide is on a regular (non-grand) cherokee, but procedure for changing is is very similar.

I don't think that's the same part I'm talking about... I mean one of these bad boys:

regardless of what that part is (or if your jeep even has one), the crank sensor is what is causing your issue

Alright guys, tomorrow is the big water pump change day for me. I'm also replacing the lower rad hose and the upper inlet tube. I will also be doing a crazy hardcore radiator flush! I'm sick of driving with my heat on! I've read the Haynes manual on the water pump replacement at least 1000 times! Any last minute advice or tips for me?? Oh yeah its also going to be only like 103 degrees, should be nice!: sweatdrop:

I also have an 180 degree thermostat, should I put that in while I'm in there until fall? Is that a bad idea?

Hi, I went to the Deleware beaches this past weekend and my jeep had issues with 4wd. Its seems like the light that lights up on dash is not in sink with what I'm driving in, and it doesn't seem like it's fully engaged in gear. It overheated and I had issues getting it back into 2wd. Can somebody help me understand and fix this problem? or do I have to take it to a tranny shop?
