Does anyone happen to know where all the "secret" VIN stamp locations are on these? Some states, like Ca and Az sometimes punish you with fees, bonded titles, Etc. if they can not find all these to be correct and in place matching the factory Vin. Like the VIN being on a bumper for example. Be nice to have a list of these locations because we do so much modifying on these.
This is what I found so far up to an 01 Grand Cherokee...
Chassis/VIN Plate
Jeep Grand Cherokee VIN is located on the front offside of the slam panel above headlamp housing on a metal riveted plate held by two rivets.
Secondary position can be found in a sticker format on the bottom inside of the passenger door.
Visible VIN
On the front windscreen nearside base viewed through windscreen in a recess held by two black rivets with star security marks.
Stamped Number
The stamped chassis VIN number is located on the offside/ Right side chassis under rear seat or floor mat 8 point asterisk security marks.
On some later models it is located in the stamped into the trunk/boot floor on the off/ right hand side under the carpet
Engine Number
On the rear offside of the block on a lug.
Vin Number Example
1J4FJN8M8WL123456
Chassis/VIN Plate
Cherokee VIN plate is located on the offside of the bulkhead on riveted metal plate adjacent to bonnet hinge . The body/build plate is on the nearside of the bulkhead and displays a VIN repeat.
Cherokee build Plate
Driver's side bulkhead just to the outside of the hood hinge.
A secondary position can be found in a sticker format on the bottom inside of the passenger door.
In later Jeep models the VIN data plate can be located on the passenger or rear passenger door pillar.
Visible VIN
On the front windscreen offside base viewed through windscreen in a recess in the dashboard on a metal strip held by two black rivets with star security marks.
Stamped Chassis Number
On the offside inner wing, 8 point asterisk security marks.
On later models the Stamped VIN number is located next to the drivers seat located by removing the door rubber and plastic cover.
Engine Number
On the nearside rear of the block on a lug.

Did you replace all of these items at the same time before noticing that the gauge cluster didn't work anymore or was it after a certain point?
Sadly, I did everything at once, so it’s hard to trace. I have since replaced my CPS, which I’ve heard can cause wonky gauges, put dielectric grease in the two gauge connectors, replaced the ignition coil, and cleaned up the set of three grounds that attach near the number 6 plug. The cluster has power, it lights up and there is a slight rise above 0 on the temp and oil pressure gauges (which I think just means they’re getting power) but flatline on the fuel, volts, speed and tach. The next thing I’m gonna try is to check the braided ground connector running from the firewall to the block.
I still don’t have my NSS adjusted quite right, I have to start in neutral, but I don’t think that’s related to the gauges. All of this is in service of solving a hard cold starting condition for which I have also replaced the fuel pump, filter and regulator. I’ve recently noticed a symptom: sometimes when I turn the key to ON, the GEN and Check Engine lights light, and sometimes they don’t. Sometimes they flicker but don’t come on. Only when they both come on strong will it start. That suggests to me there’s some electrical issue I haven’t tracked down yet... is it possible the new ignition switch is defective?

So guys I’m new to the Cherokee world I’ve had this thing for about a month now and I’ve been putting it through the ringer. But every once and a while my engine stalls then won’t start back up unless I burry my foot in the throttle. Then once it starts back up it will only run if I keep the rpms up, but once I try to let it idle or put it in gear it stalls. Let it sit for a while and it eventually works. I was thinking it was either heat soak or a leak in the fuel system. I used a pressure tester and the fuel system holds pressure. And for the heat soak theory, I have a sizeable hood scoop that definitely lets a lot of cool air in and it never gets above 190 degrees. It’s got me scratching my head, and input would be greatly appreciated. It’s a 4.0 by the way. Thanks
Also came down really hard on the crossmember, “frame railsâ€, and my rear bumper. The lights came on at least 5 times if not more. got this one on slammer. Forgot to quote bugout, but this is in response to that.
Edit: the dent in the bumper looks worse in person but yeah

It's not a wiring issue. You have a mechanical speedometer cable that runs from the transfer case to the speedometer. Likely it's broke or not attached to the guage.
***EDIT***
check the speedometer gear. Easy to pull out and make sure the teeth aren't stripped
Anyone ever converted a pre-95 XJ to tilt steering? My 91 has no tilt. I'm fat and my new steering wheel blocks the gauges a bit. Dude on eBay is selling for $150ish. Is removing/swapping the steering column a serious endeavor?
I don't have a specific answer to your question, but Jeep used a standard GM column. All the parts are common, so getting this done shouldn't be a big deal if it's as easy as it sounds
Has anyone seen shackles like this lift has on it before?
Please tell me you aren’t trying to find some to buy and use. Shackles that long will just destroy any Cherokee leaf pack and will probably bend if used offroad. I’ve seen lift shackles that aren’t built properly fail and bend.

Just get a column assembly for your year or close and swap it.
If you're fat, you may wanna have someone else do the swap for you though.
