I'm curious, why'd you go through all the trouble of putting a coil spring rear axle into your leaf sprung XJ and still use a D35 instead of bolting in an XJ 8.25 or relocating the perches on a Ford 8.8?

I went through 2 8.25s and no one told me about the 8.8 when I did the swap. I use to have a lifted explorer with a 8.8 and didn't like it. I ground off all the mounts and put lead spring peaches on it. Had it all done less than a day

Were those early or late 8.25s? They switched to 29 splines in '97 and are generally regarded as being as strong as an XJ D44. I'm not trying to give you a hard time, but I'm curious

They're from a 2000 and 2001 xj. I never broke the axle, only had bearings blow up or start to whine like a ****. I don't rag on my jeep enough to brake anything. Just like having suspension and the ability to flex in trails!

did you ever run the axles dry? That's usually how bearings blow up

yeah I guess it make sense to remove fluids to save weight than removing a crankshaft pulley

then if that's the case, you will be fine with another 8.25 that never was in the water

You can convert an 8.25 to disc pretty easily.

everybody convert their 8.25 to disc set up very easily. Way more easier than trying to convert entire ZJ rear axle to work with a XJ
