seeing this and the photo intrigued me. I'm not well-knowledged when it comes to indepth engine tech such as the things pertaining to the psi on the fuel rails and more or less most of the information there, but i'm curious as to what it does to the engine/fuel efficiency. would you be able to help me understand it better?

I just bought a 96 Cherokee 2dr 4.0 litre 5 speed. the trans is stuck in first gear. it will not come out whether it is running or not or if transfer case is in 2 or 4wd. the shifter itself moves freely side to side as if in neutral. thanks in advance for suggestions.

Hey, got this 96 Cherokee back last year with 206K on it and I JUST found that I have water in the oil (4cyl, had a slight coolant leak that couldn't find for a several months but not in oil)
Already had a head from a '01 Dakota (117 casting) and find out that I need to do a valve job and cut the seats.
What are the angles for the seats? 30/45/60? or something else? (got a NEWAY cutting system! It's fantastic)

BTW. this '117' Dakota head DOES NOT have the provision for the temp sending unit drilled/threaded!!

Not exactly sure where it's located, you should be able to google search that or look in your FSM. But the switch itself you should be able to change out with the system charged.

 

The AC in my 2000 doesn't work because of a leak that I do not know the location of. When I drive for a while I can smell antifreeze, is my heater core and/or the AC evaporator leaking?

 

Hello, I am new to this forum. I have a 1995 Jeep XJ, 6 cylinder 4.0 liter engine. My jeep is stalls when I am climbing-always with an altitude of 4000 feet or more. After it stalls, it wont start for about 30-45 minutes, then runs fine. When this occurs, My engine temp is normal, about 210.
I have checked the fuses, relays and fuel pressure-all are good. The last time this occurred, I obtained a OBD code reading of 32. I am concluding my Transmission is getting hot and a sensor is sending a message to PCM (this just my theory).
Anyone else experience this?

 

Remove your throttle body and all the sensors attached and give everything a good cleaning. Any kind of hesitation before the stall or a instant shutoff?

 

Very likely your heater core is leaking. The evaporator might or might not be, but on the XJ most people replace both at the same time since you have to remove the dashboard to get at them.

Frequently leaks will develop where hoses are crimped on the metal fittings. Another possibility is the compressor shaft seal. Any place there are seals really is a possibility.

There are several ways to check for AC leaks. An electronic detector is nice but if you don't do a lot of AC work you might not want to spend the $$$ on one. You can inject some dye and use a UV light to look for leaks. You can try a soapy water solution to look for bubbles the way you'd do to find a tire leak. Sometimes you can even see an oil film at the leak site with the naked eye. But if you can't find anything leaking under the hood it is most likely the evaporator.

Just bought some power leather headrest seats out of a '99 XJ for my '00 XJ. 2 questions. Are XJ's prewired from the factory for power seats? Can a power seat be put on a manual riser?
