How difficult is it to replace a transmission on a 4x4 XJ with the 4.0L engine ? Year is 1998
Well do you have experience? Do you have general mechanical knowledge? Do you have tools? Do you have beer? And do you have 1 or 2 extra set of hands to help drink beer and move a big chunk of metal around your driveway/ carport yard/ or garage?
If the answer to all of those is yes, then you have a fun filled day of beer drinking, knuckle busting fun with a friend or two.
If not do some research and planning but it's not something that you should be afraid of. Read up here on the forums, and several other forums. Watch some YouTube videos and get too it!

It's all encouragement, there are things that prior to finding CF, I was just like anyone else paying to get work done that I could do myself with a case of beer and a couple of friends hanging out in the garage.
Now I wouldn't trade it for the world, although I'm sure my wallet and wife agree they wish I hadn't started to become super mechanically inclined.
Hey so I installed some hella e code housings. are there left and right side housings? Both my housings have the same part number. I can see where they have the little lines that reflect the light out towards the driver side, just wondering if there is one that should reflect out to the passenger side as well.
Black smoke coming out of the side - that is very odd indeed - can you show us a picture of where?
Also I really suggest starting a new thread for this, if you haven't already. Something tells me this won't be a quick one!
I assume it was out the throttle but the hood was closed so I can't be sure/ I know that I'd cleaned the throttle body that weak and when I checked, it had black film on it again. Is it possible the cat is momentarily clogging causing a back up into the intake? When the intake valves open would they allow that backed-up ehaust back into the air system? Im tossing around my limited understanding trying to improve my diagnostic skills.

That would be a pretty massive backfire. Momentarily clogging is not a thing.
Hello again
I'm a curious about maybe just installing some ox lockers on my 88 cherokee
I have dana 35 and 30 differentials which I know most people hate but with ox lockers will I have any problems with it exploding anyways or will it be fine
I only ask because I would rather save money on buying new differentials and then upgrading them compared to just upgrading these that I have
I'm just worried that I will be waisting money by not getting like dana 44s
What do you guys think
Any experience with d35s exploding with lockers or is it typically a stock parts issue???

get a 97-01 Chrysler 8.25 rear axle & have it installed in that. They are really cheap from a junkyard.
