Bingo.. what did I win?
Seriously, I believe wires were installed backwards. Some manufactures have different layouts for the connections. Is the new alt an 'exact' replacement, are they identical?

Can someone explain why the alternator being wired wrong makes that fuse in the PDC blow??? Unless it's the alternator interface with the ASD relay.

Because it messes with the rectifier bridge (diodes) and "backfeeds". Diodes are "check valves" in an electrical system that control the direction and flow of electricity.

Ok I can figure out why my 1998 Jeep XJ 4.0 AW4 is sputtering at 2300rpm. It only does it in 3rd gear. It doesn't do it at lower or higher rpms and doesn't do it in any other gear

Nope no trouble starting. It may do it in 4th gear. I'll be going 65mph at 2300 rpms and it will stutter. Also I can hear a ping or metal hitting metal when it happens.

Like metal rattling. Sure at 2300 only and not in 4th at around 1300-1450ish.

It's not like a rattle but a ping.

im thinking about buying a lift off of a guy, says its a brand new short arm 4.5in lift, question is what should it come with and since im already lifted 3 inches could i still use my shocks and just change springs? is 1 in tc drop enough to keep rear vibes to a minimum? and i should be fine with the C 8.25 rear to run 33s?

At 4.5" lift, an SYE is advised at this point but as every jeep is different, you'll have to see how it feels after. The drop brackets will work. New coil will work. you'll need longer shocks for sure. And what does your 3" lift comprise of? And you will need longer brake lines for rear And front you can relocate but longer ones are advised. Which adjustable track bar is it
