What does a spun bearing sound like? At first i thought i had a collapsed lifter but the sound has changed from top end clatter that went away after a little driving to lower end chittering...lol I know its hard to define the noise but imagine a pissed off chipmunk in the oil pan kinda noise. I have a backup ride but would really like to know if my 4.0 is shot before it pukes when im on the road. btw 99 xj 4.0 200k +/- on the clock original driveline to the best of my knowledge. thanks

That's what it sounds like.
Could be a broken piston skirt.

Ok so I'm going to drain it and check for shavings? My oil pressure is spot on and responds with throttle as it should. I'm not really up to an engine rebuild at the moment, was only planning to have her off the streets and trails for a month two tops to fix floor pans and rockers, no room in the budget to do the motor. What else can i look into to determine my problem?

I planned on replacing my beat up pan any way, pass side uca mount was mean to it a time or to, flattened out the lip and what not. Well looks like my $600 beater pickup is my new dd for a little longer than i planned.

I would definitely take it back.
does this look like a overhead console out of a 97+ cherokee?http://hartford.craigslist.org/pts/3979882407.html. also he says that the cut the wires would i need the whole harness to wire it into my jeep?
where is that at on the frame?
weld it up good, check the area around it, frame stiffeners.
