Google it, I've seen people have them with them. Curious myself how they hold. If you think of it, you get yanked by a hitch receiver d ring held in by a pin. A bolted down winch is sort of the same thing. Bolted down to steel as I it was on a bumper

Oh no, I'm not doubting the winch cradle. I'm doubting the front hitch itself. They don't seem to be mounted very sturdy.

I wouldn't trust this as my winch recovery point.

You're not understanding what I'm saying.

So I have been brain storming my next moves with the jeep. So far I have come up with the following parts for my lift.
BDS longarms-$1000 (Shaun)
IRO Double shear trackbar-$200 (IRO)
RE 4.5" leaf spring-$280 (Serious Offroad)
RE 5.5" coil springs-$90 (Serious Offroad)
SYE & Driveshaft -$500 (Rustys)
Brakelines (unsure)
Shocks (unsure)
If there is anything else people can think of or wish to comment on I'm open to suggestions. Some of my current parts will be reused like extended shackle and coil spacer.

Yeah, exactly. The actual receiver isn't mounted strong enough. I'd trust the cradle all day long, but not the receiver.

Maybe it's just my eyes then... looks flipped or your fan shroud is not what I was expecting (does WJ only have the big one in the middle?)
For the smoke test, no. Pop the hose off of the air cleaner assembly, chock the throttle open, and blow smoke in the big hose going to it.

Guys, I have to trim my rear fenders tomorrow. How high do I make my relief cuts? Just as a point of reference, just below the spot welds, to the middle of the spot welds or to the top of the spot welds? I know I do not cut the spot welds but in between them. Just using them as a measurement reference. Also, when I cut around with my cut off wheel, how high do I do that? The first lip?
and I'm still a little confused about this section. There is a fender mounting bolt in there. Do I just hack it off?

Mark your spot welds with a sharpie

Let sawzall eat. I made a ton of cuts and beat it with a mallet then cleaned it up with a framing hammer

Then clean up the lip. It will flake. I left mine a while and it surface rusted. Sanded it with a sanding disc on my grinder and did the lip. The the rear quarter. Then the entire quarter. Then the rockers lol

IMO, go with a smaller leaf and shackle/ relocation bracket set up for better articulation and ride.

I was quoted $300 by two places in town and did it for $50 myself and half a day
Love my steering spacer

I used mine for recovery and it always did me well.
Brake lines. YJ rear. Chevy 1500 fronts. I have part numbers if you want. They require a little grinding on the square part of the line but work awesome and are like 8" longer. Plenty.
