XJ Ask the Question Thread
That sounds kinda like an out of balance drive shaft or poor pinion angle but If it's done it from stock and you've replaced the front and rear drive shaft u-joints it should be ok.
Maybe a bent axle shaft or worn u-joint. You should be able to feel that at slower speeds.
Bad pinion bearing causes the same symptoms but would be at a larger MPH range.
This continues with or with the throttle? If you let off the gas it doesn't stop until you slow down?

I havnt replaced the front driveshaft u-joints yet, Im thinking about pulling the front ds and taking it for a spin on the highway. When Im on the highway around 70mph and I slow down it doesnt make the noise, only when Im applying the gas pedal trying to increase my speed. My front d30 had a little bit of a whine but I changed the fluid and its a lot better. No metal shavings were seen when changing the fluid. Same goes for the trans, t-case, and rear diff. Could bad motor mounts allow the engine to shake enough to make this sound/vibrate as well? Either way It wouldnt hurt to take a spin with the front ds removed. Also, while offroad an hour ago I got a couple popping sounds while turning sharp and coming down an incline, I believe that was the front axle u-joints. The driver side front axle u-joint has some play. It has only made the popping sound offroad in 4wd.
Yes, motor mounts can cause a vibration but more likely all the time than just at certain MPHs. I'd see about balancing that drive shaft.
Thank you for your input Lowrange, im going to pull the front ds and take it for a spin, then take another look at the motor mounts. If that doesnt help Il take the ds to a driveline shop. Could just be my pinion angle, might be time for a sye. Iv had my eye on a hack n tap. That wouldnt explain it making the noise when it was at stock height however so it could very well be the rear ds is out of balance.

You are correct. BPE's would be the smartest option, but if you dont feel like doing that you can press the bar pins from your stock shocks into the JK shocks.
