XJ Ask the Question Thread
What do you torque the locking bolt (8mm head) that holds the cross pin/shaft in the rear axle (chrysler 8.25) of a 98' xj? I think I read 13ft lbs, could anyone back this up? And also should I use loctite?
I ended up getting the bolt as tight as I could (reasonably tight) with a 3/8" drive ratchet w/ 8mm socket. Also used red loctite on it, I doubt Il have an issue.

Was just looking around on superbrightleds.com
I seen they sell LED off road light bars. At a good price too (under $200 for a 21").
Anyone have experience with them?

I've seen some LED offroad lights that are great, but I'm told you get what you pay for with LED light projection. No personal experience with the bars.
I just bought 2 LED spot lights. 27w. I have reviewed the youtube with people using them. Ill post back once installed. These will go on my bumper. Ill probably get the 47w LED for my light bar above.

Regarding "you get what you pay for" the only kind of of road lights I've used are cheaply made units. 100w ,55w fogs etc. So far, I haven't cracked or broken any of them. I've put them through a lot of abuse IMO for lights. One set was in a collision, and came out without a scratch or a dent. I don't need them to support the weight of my jeep, lol.
So if those are as sturdy as the cheap stuff I've had and work like they say they do, I'll go for em.

See now eBay ones are the ones I will stay away from LED bulbs, maybe. Not those bars though. More so because of the sellers not taking responsibility when its a piece of ****. And I honestly don't like getting odd smelling packages from CHINA (Why is it always all caps?)
At least the superbirghtleds.com ones say they come with a two year warranty, and they're opening the Chinese boxes first.
They have a photo of it lighting their warehouse but I swear it looks fake.

Speaking of lights on the bumper, how the hell is everyone else tightening theirs on the passenger side? I cant get a ratchet or wrench or channel locks on mine whatsoever. And i'll be damned if im gonna take off the whole bumper to do it.

I used a generous amount on my oil filter adapter bolt and after a week I found out the o-rings from the parts store didnt stop the leak and I had to remove the adapter again to swap the o-rings from ones from the dealer. I didnt have an issue getting the bolt out. I couldnt find any torque specs so I just got it tight and used some loctite. Hope I dont have an issue removing it in the future, if I do then I learned to either use less loctite or none for this application.
