Default Wireing stereo help

i have a 98 xj and i got a pioneer deck and have ran into some issues. the jeep harness that come from the dash to the deck has way more wires then my deck. for example the the harness from the dash has a negative and positive for each speaker. my harness for my deck has only one wire for each speaker. any help would be nice.

Post pics. I have installed many a car radio before and I could easily help if you could show me what you're talking about.

If the Pioneer harness only had 1 wire for each speaker, you would only have 6-8 wires coming off of that pigtail. That seems rather unlikely to me...most aftermarket pigtails have 10-12 wires, or more.

It does save some time and effort. But if you live 30 miles outside of city limits and own a decent soldering iron and shrink tubing, you can do a decent job.

I installed an Alpine head unit a few years ago, bought it along with the wiring harness adaptor and conversion kit from crutchfield.com. They ship all the appropriate wiring specs as well and make it easy for you to re-wire; trust me I'm not mr. electric wiring guy and it was easy. Go to their page and give it a shot.

Yeah, any new aftermarket car stereo should have 8 wires for the 4 speakers.

X2!! Did my 89' up with an Alpine deck a few months ago and the adaptor sure saved some hassle. Definitely a worthwhile purchase.
