My Dad and I hit a seagull when taking off the runway on Block Island, RI in a Cessna 182. It went thru the propeller and totally covered the windshield with gore! We went around and landed to access the damage. It dented the leading edge of the engine cowling but other than a bloody mess, nothing else was wrong. It took a while to clean up the mess to be sure. My Dad was amazed and said, "Okay, let's try that again!" The engine ran up perfectly so I guess nothing got swallowed up.
