Default Windows only work through driver door... How do i fix???

I have a 99 XJ, when we bought it only the driver door could lower and raise the windows (like the child lock was on) but on occasion they work from their own doors, does anybody know what's going on, or how too fix it???

sounds like a problem with the child lock. you could replace the switch or try to rebuild it.

Happens to me too, also a 99 XJ. It is crazy how it will sometimes work from the passenger doors but mostly only from the driver door. I think the wire that tells it it is in child lock is faulty or something, just my guess.

The wire for the child lock is probably broken. Same thing that happened to mine.

You can repair the wire, or bypass it entirely.

http://www.cherokeetalk.com/forum/f6...ndow-fix-8078/ I like this one better. More reliable than a paper clip IMO. I did this to mine last year

I should have said something about not using a paperclip and to use a jumper wire instead.
Thanks

I guess this is a common problem because mine does the same thing....well actually the windows only go down from the drivers side never from the passenger doors.

Only 3 of my windows move, I have to control all of them from the driver's door panel, and 1 of the 3 is very slow. I need a complete window overhaul.
