Default Window woes

Anyone ever taken out their door windows without breaking them? I'm trying to replace my regulator (manual windows) and I need to unbolt the window from the assembly that moves it up and down. Both of the regulators I bought off ebay still had the white plastic circles attached with the bolt and broken glass around them :/. I tried unbolting mine carefully and slowly but I heard some noises, not sure if they were from the plastic, metal scraping on metal, or the glass cracking inside the white plastic piece, so I just stopped. I really dont want to break my window, if anyone has any ideas how to do this carefully it would be much appreciated.

Never mind. It's not happening. It's the passenger window, they can deal with it. With the luck I've been having lately (broken bolts on cross member doing trans mounts, hinge pins welded themselves in hinges after I cut to go doorless, broken bolt in block while doing water pump) I'm not going to chance it. Thanks for looking

Well if you still want to try and tackle the job yourself, its really not too hard. You can just leave the window in the door. I left the window in my door when I changed out the regulator. I just slid the window all the way up and then pulled the regulator out the opening in the door. I think I unbolted the bracket from the regulator though. I only changed he regulator itself. I can take a look at the door tomorrow if you want. My door panel is off right now.

Do you have manual windows? When I got my new regulators it looks like you have to unbolt the window from the regulator/assembly. I'm pretty sure the regulator and assembly are all one piece. I was thinking about trying to drill out a rivet somewhere so I can leave the section that bolts the window to the assembly alone..... If I come up with anything I'll be sure to post up
