Default Window seals

Just bought new seals for the rear cargo windows and the rear lift gate window. How hard is it to change these? Does anyone have any tricks? Do I need to use the 3m black window calk with the new seals? I heard about taking 1/4 inch rope and running out around the outside and pulling it out to help set the seal.

The cargo windows are a bit challenging, the rear gate you just push the glass and you can mess with the seal. The rope works good but with adhesive it makes it messy somewhat.

Would it be better to just pay the local auto glass place to do it or is it manageable?

Its possible but can run the risk of breaking the window, so it just depends on if you think you can do it.

Yeah! I would call around to other shops. I don't know what prices are where you live but in south Tx. that is a bit high. I paid $125 for them to change out my windshield and that was including the glass. But, like I said I don't know what prices are like in your area. The good thing is if you do have them replace the seals they will normally give you a guarantee for no leaks. Just make sure to get it in writing.

They usually will only do it in writing if they order the seals. Because they won't guarantee a customer seal that could be the wrong one or they do something to it causing it to leak.
